Progressive Training and Sending Structure Chart
Intern
An internship occurs during the last eight weeks of training in Living Stones College. The intern serves with one of our Senior Missionaries on the field and learns the valuable ropes of mission life, adapting to a different culture, learning basic conversational phrases in another language, evangelism, and how church planting works in another country. Internships take place from March – May of every year. Interns raise their own support from their home church, family, and friends. The cost for the two-month internship is approximately $3,500 which includes airfare and all living expenses.
Apprentice
An apprenticeship is a nine – twelve month period of service on the field for the missionary who is just starting out. Apprentices are placed with a proven senior missionary and serve in a variety of ways, according to the needs of the field and the ministry giftings of the apprentice. The apprentice should plan to attend language school part-time or employ a tutor to learn at least conversational phrases in the language of the country they are serving in as part of their assignment. During the apprenticeship, support is given by the home church of the missionary (and perhaps several other churches with a close relationship to the home church), family, and friends.
Associate
An associate missionary, much like an associate pastor, serves with a senior missionary in a multitude of ways in a country that he or she feels God’s calling to. During this stage, the associate is given more responsibility and has readily adjusted to life on the field, the culture, and the language. Associate missionaries are encouraged to continue their language study. Having been proven faithful as an intern/and or apprentice, the mission team of NRP will now assist the associate in raising support by presenting them to the larger base of NRP churches, especially to pastors who may be interested in the area of the world they are serving in. Associate missionaries serve for a minimum of two - three years with a senior missionary before they pioneer a work of their own, or they may feel called to remain working with the senior missionary indefinitely, taking on increased responsibilities as needed for expansion of the work.
Senior Missionary / Country Leader
A senior missionary is the backbone of our church planting efforts. Having been strategically trained and proven on the field, the senior missionary is church planting, training leaders, and pioneering into Unreached People Groups in his country or beyond. He has the full range of NRP churches open to him for itineration, and special projects he needs finances for will be given extra attention. Apostolic teaching teams from the NRP will assist his training vision, and GlobalROAR will send short-term teams to compliment his ministry as needed or requested. A Senior Missionary and Country Leader may share the same field.
